The Happiest Place On Earth

So have y'all heard of  Sophie the Giraffe?  I do not usually succumb to retail and advertising, but I just had to do it for my little amazing baby, I am enjoying every ounce of him, and know that he will grow up faster than I know it, and I had a $10 off coupon!

So for the next few days my kids are home, and most families in my community do fun things with their kids because they are off school for another week.  We never had a birthday party for Eli Tzvi for his 4th birthday, his school year just started in a new school, so it was just a mention.  On September 13, we did a bit of cake, but I really wanted to do something special just for him.  We are not big on TV or movies, but there are three that my kids love Cars, Nemo, and Stuart.  Recently Cars Land opened in in California Adventure, which is a part of Disney, and my daughter is as crazy about Mater and Mcqueen as my son, so I thought it would be fun to take them.  It is ridiculously expensive, $87 for adults and $81 for kids starting at 3 - NUTS!  Especially since for most of the rides you have to be a certain height, and the speed is kind of scary for smaller kids.  All of that stuff is so not for toddlers, but in America, Disney is the thing to do.

I was only there once, we were moving in a van from Denver, CO to Miami, FL, passed through Orlando, went for one day, was not impressed, never been into Mickey and gang, don't have it around my house either.  But Cars my kids love, my daughter is 2 1/2 so she was free, my husband stayed home with the baby, and let me have this ridiculous plan, which overall turned out OK.  We also went to Disney World for our High School Grad Night, which was fun, but not a kids kind of fun.

Cars 2 was the first movie I took my son to in a Theatre at 3 years old, and he loved it, they are actually good movie watchers.  Now Nemo is in 3D, and I am excited about it, I love Ellen, she is hilarious, I am laughing more than the kids.

Is it the happiest place on earth?  Well it is laid out very nicely, easy to get around, shady when you are waiting for rides, and not too long.  But mostly I see shopping, which I find boring and pointless.  How many toys could a kids have?  Then I was gave in and bought them a drink in a cone cup, and I keep on repeating my motto:

Excess once in a while is moderation :)

Overall, quite overwhelming for them, all my son really wants to do is sit in front of a real train track, at a railroad crossing, and hope a train goes by.  That is all he was talking about the whole day, they actually listened quite well, and were pleasantly patient waiting for rides.

I think I will stick to simple things, park, my kids club in the gym when I teach or workout, that is where they have the most fun.

Thank God for school, where it is fun, educational, and full of love and learning about their culture.  My daughter sings all day, and my son loves telling me the stories he learned in school.

I am happy I took them, but I will never go there again anytime soon.

  1. I love Disney. i did work in orlando in the 89 wao... and it was so much fun but it is true, if kids R still small, very tiring for them with all the lines, and always lines! Taking photos around of the Disney m"agie" is fun though. Carlita only went once in Paris but is dreaming of going in Orlando... U R so lucky U just drive there and U can go any day U feel like. Us it is planning a flight, an hotel + the Disney park... imagine the budget!!!! $85 a day seems good to me anytime jajaja but yes expensive for a 3years old i am agree.
