Life Goes On

It's right before Shabbat, I am sitting with my beautiful daughter quickly squeezing in the blog.  Luckily the kids were in school, and two of my best girlfriends in LA helped watch my baby and my sister in law's baby, and we were all able to be together at the funeral of my father in law.

So nice to see all of the people that loved him, and knew him through different stages of his life.  I am excited to learn more about his life from all of his friends, he will be missed.

I am excited to have a relaxing shabbat with my family and my community during this time.

Have a wonderful weekend,
Shabbat Shalom,
Yulia

In Loving Memory

A quarter to midnight last night my amazing Father-in-Law took his last breath.  I met Tuvia Edelshtain five years ago, he was actually the first person my husband introduced me to from his family.  They have always been close, and worked together driving trucks across the country.

He was always so kind to me, he was so happy when Sam and I met and married.  He spoke seven languages, I communicated with him in Russian.  The others were Hebrew, Romanian, Spanish, Portuguese, Yiddish, and Italian, if I recall correctly.  He is a war hero, fought in some famous battle to protect and save Israel.  Raised three amazing children, along with my husband I have a new brother and sister :) and their families.

When I was pregnant with my first, and after the baby he would cook for me, the most delicious food made with love.  He made a salad that I grew up with in Russia, basically a potato salad, but he would put pickles, which I loved, peas, carrots, bit of mayo and mustard, I know kinda crazy, but it tasted like home. Also a great vegetable soup, and even a chicken soup to puree for the baby.

At our wedding, he was able to walk his son down the aisle, and enjoy all of his grandchildren from us and his daughter.

God Bless His Memory,
Yulia

My Other Half

Everything in life is pro's vs. con's, I wrote about that exact subject not too long ago.  Life is not supposed to be easy, I really feel we would be bored.

Five years ago my husband and I went from being happily single in our 30's, getting by, not really knowing what we wanted to do with our careers, just happy to pay our bills and enjoy our friends;

We met in January 2007
Engaged April 2007
Married August 2007
First Baby September 2008
Second Baby March 2010
Third Baby March 2012
Fast Forward to Today
Eli Tzvi 4 years old
Ziona Sofia 2 1/2 years old
Matisyahu 8 months old

Sam
Multiple Businesses (cars, phones, insurance, credit, funding for business start ups)

Yulia
Multiple Businesses (Yoga, Pilates, Nutrition Coach, Doula)

Wow, feeling so blessed to be with my exact other half, we complement each other in so many ways. We also butt heads because we are both strong, stubborn, and lived very freely, made all our own decisions into our mid thirties.

The challenges are a beautiful way to keep lines of communication open, compromise, work together, and keep on reigniting the spark that brought us together.

Happy Birthday to the Best Husband in the World,
Love,
Your One of a Kind Wife,
Yulia

Inevitable

I love the word INEVITABLE, it is so powerful, I just read it in an amazing quote:

At First Dreams Seem Impossible,
Then Improbable,
Eventually Inevitable.

Christopher Reeve

in·ev·i·ta·ble/inˈevitəbəl/

Adjective:
Certain to happen; unavoidable
Invariably occurring or appearing; predictable
The inevitable changes of the seasons
Noun:
A situation that is unavoidable.
destiny, fate - an event (or a course of events) that will inevitably happen in the future
Synonyms:
unavoidable - inescapable - ineluctable - necessary

This is so powerful to me, it really means that absolutely anything is possible in every area of our lives, we get to choose :) Yes life happens, but how we go about it, our reaction, where we move forward, that is all us!  The video above really struck me for a few reasons.

1. He Gave Up
2. He Found Someone to Believe in Him
3. Yoga was his Access to Live Life Again
4. He Literally Achieved the Impossible, Switching His Brain and Going For It

You have that Power too,
Want to Tap in?

Getting In Over Our Heads

[p

This picture is a perfect snapshot into the happenings of my home.  Eli Tzvi and Ziona Sofia are always in motion, and my baby is enjoying the show.  Sometimes its playful, sometimes its fighting, sometimes its laughing, sometimes its crying.

This is all a metaphor for life my friends.  I have had quite a day, my wonderful wild kids woke up at 5am, Thank God they sleep all night, we have them in bed by 7pm, so it is a good amount of sleep, but the crazy thing is we tried putting them to bed later so they would sleep later, didn't work.

Got them off the school, baby with my husband, had the most amazing workout this morning with the Sprint2Fit team at the park, I love our LA weather, its so perfect to keep working out outside.  Ran home, got the baby and went to my next gig.

Brought my kids home from school, had dinner, got on an amazing business call figuring out the deep reasons why I choose to live my life like I do, not to have a boss, to spend all the time I want with my kids, to really see myself worry free of it all, even money.  It is all possible, I am with the best company in the world, and I just have to connect with others who feel the same, so excited for my future.

Just got back from Doula Training, so powerful, all the birth movies make my eyes swell up with tears, it is just such a miracle, and our body knows exactly what to do, the mechanics are just magic, the baby knows exactly what to do, my job will be making women realize and trust that.

Even though I have never had large amounts of money, I have always been able to live the life I want, and I always want to help others.  Sometimes it is not such a good idea to help others, when you yourself are still working towards supporting a family or yourself.

I just learned a big lesson today about helping family and friends, if it is at the expense of your family's energy, time, money, and ends up hurting you in the end, just gotta stop doing it.  When I am in a position to help, I am excited to help the causes I believe in most, my community, my people as a whole, women's rights, but for now I will stick to inspiring health and happiness all over the world.

Pushing it

What an amazing non stop day,

Last night everything was clicking, I think it was after a good Thanksgiving meal that everyone was ready to work it off.  I had 8 people come out to the Santa Monica Fit Club this morning at 9am, there were 300 people there total, AMAZING!  I left the baby at home with my husband, took the sand toys for Eli Tzvi and Ziona Sofia, she found some ladies to play with, and a cool 8 year old kid was playing catch with him and then built cool castles with the sand toys.  #LOVE MY LIFE

Taught a Yoga class right after.

Then in Long Beach, my fellow Russian Jews had a huge event the whole weekend, it was a Thanksgiving Shabbaton, I found out about it too late to participate, but went down with all my kids to meet everyone, and catch a discount to the Aquarium, unfortunately there weren't enough people that wanted to go to get the discount, so we just hung out a bit, I am always excited to get the kids out of the house for an adventure.

It feels good when so many good things happen, but I also felt like I was running, I didn't feel like I over scheduled, it just all happened that people said yes, some things were a tight squeeze, but once in a while, you have to ride the wave, even if its super intense.

On my way to teach a Yoga class.

On the sad side, two of my friends had their father's pass away this weekend, I cannot even imagine.  My heart goes out to them and the rest of the family.

Treasure life,
Treasure yourself,
Treasure the people in your life,
It really is a gift,

Yesterday is History,
Tomorrow is a Mystery,
Today is a gift.

Be present my friends,
So you don't miss a thing,

Misunderstanding

I try my best to be a very straightforward and fair person, but sometimes life happens, and lines get crossed, and different interpretations happen, and there is an elephant in the room.

I used to have a roommate that would get upset with me when I would listen to her telling me about other people's drama, and proclaim "I DON'T CARE."  She thought I was so inconsiderate, when I was thinking, why should I take other people's stuff on, I have enough of my own stuff.  Even with family, how my extended family lives their lives is their business, I try not to judge or even have an opinion, ultimately my family is who needs my undivided attention.  In business it is my clients and fellow coaches that get my undivided attention, I love promoting what I do, but if someone is not into it, no problem, I really believe in the concept of "TO EACH HIS OWN."

It happens with families, friends, even our own children, and all we can do is own up, communicate, and come to a compromise.  A good friend just told us the best thing he taught his kids was how to compromise, and of course he told us to have patience, not so easy, but a constant effort :)

Misunderstandings also happen in the world of "TEXT" OMG, we never know the tone or connotation, and I have had to have uncomfortable face to face conversations to clear the air.  I like the air to be clear, otherwise "THINGS LIVE RENT FREE IN OUR BRAIN."

Relationships of all types are not easy, and I always say otherwise we would be bored.  In a marriage or couple, it is so important to have a connection that no matter what, that connection is what you have to fall back on.  Especially with strong personalities, I feel blessed to be tough, but its important to know when to back down, listen, and compromise.

Most importantly RESPECT!

We must keep learning my friends,
Our brain stimulation keeps us young,
Being true to ourselves keeps our stress low,
Keep Checking in,
Keep Speaking out,
Keep Shining Your Light,
Coach Yulia
OMG - These high energy individuals really had me on my toes today, testing my patience, and my little one is super teething, so non stop fussy, poor baby, Day by Day my friends, that is all we can do.

Distraction

The biggest distraction in our society is our phone, we could be in the middle of something so important, but we always glance to check what could be urgent, and interrupt anyone and everything to text back, I am guilty of this.  I feel grateful to have my iphone for organization and to be reachable since I am always on the go and have a few businesses.  But doesn't the person you are talking to deserve your undivided attention?  How about our children?  We are pushing a stroller, or at the playground, multi tasking, and all they want is a smile.

OY VEY

The problems we have in our modern life :)  Then there are other distractions, I had all these "to do's" the other day, and a good friend got her car broken into, and we spent most of the afternoon trying to track the iphone and call the police, sadly even though its quite precise, it does not say exactly whose hands it is in, so they couldn't do much.  I could not focus amidst all the intensity.  Then my mother in law comes over, God Bless Her, she lives on her own, and she always has a task for all of us to do.  You feel the energy of the "I need your help," everything else has to be put to the side to fill out simple forms, that mean the world to her to do NOW.

Thank God life gets us present to beautiful moments to capture our attention.  Have a great weekend.
Shabbat Shalom,
Yulia

Reflection

I ran across this video recently and I started to crack up and be amazed at how different they looked.  Now Eli Tzvi has the short hair and Ziona Sofia has the long hair.  Their energy and showmanship has not changed, I guess they get that from me, LOL.

On a day where most of the country is celebrating a holiday of Thanks and Family, it makes me reflect on life, and enjoy going through memory lane.  Every path we have crossed has brought us exactly to where we are today.  Whether we are conscious of it or not, a decision was made every step of the way, even if the decision was not to make a decision, life kept going.

It's through our kids that we realize how time keeps passing, I cannot believe my daughter will be 3 in March, it is quite mind blowing.  Age for me has always been a number, and thanks to my healthy active lifestyle and conscious eating, yeah and I got some pretty good genes, Thanks Mom and Dad.

In our Jewish community eating is a big deal, we have so many celebrations and certain foods are eaten with such fervor, just like Thanksgiving, we can have these foods all year, but with family, homemade with love, ahhhh nothing like it.  We are lucky to have a homemade meal like this every Friday night together and love to have guests, our kids enjoy it too, and love the ritual of it all, the grape juice "wine," the special bread, challa, and all the wonderful foods my very talented husband creates.

It is so important to eat with happiness, then your body absorbs and all the nutrients go where they need.  Indulge today, but maybe taste everything and take home some leftovers so you don't overdo it.  Or let this be your who cares I am going to town day!  Just enjoy, when we eat food emotionally or because we are bored, especially the junk, everybody knows what happens.

Feeling good actually takes careful attention,
I feel we deserve to give ourselves this attention,
When you take care of yourself,
The body works like a well oiled machine,
and then you just go on about your life,
Even one thing off kilter, it affects everything,
Be Healthy My Friends This Holiday Season,
and for the rest of your life,
might as well live it to the fullest,

Bon Appetit,

Day By Day

Getting ready to go to my Yoga class with my teacher this morning.  Taking Matisyahu to the Kids Club at 24 Hour Fitness, squeezing in my blog before I go, got a long day ahead of me, will not be done until 10pm tonight.  All good things, teaching 3 classes in a row tonight, and today is mostly administrative, especially before the holiday, but I have to take care of me first, looking forward to my class.

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone, I hope you get to spend beautiful quality time with family and friends.  I love that this time of year we get present to what we are thankful for in our lives.  I try to make it a daily practice, but it is amazing when you feel the energy in the air of gratefulness.

Every day is a process, trying not to get overwhelmed if I am unable to do it all, and constantly being around baby poop and spit up.  I guess I should be used to it by now, but do you ever get used to it?

I suppose it is a good problem to have in the large scheme of things, Thank God, we gotta keep getting back to appreciating all the good.  There is so much good and sometimes one little things or someone knocks us off our happy place.  Our Happy Place is a choice, the other side does not sound to exciting to dwell in all the time.

Trying to balance me as well as give 100% to the kids, husband, all of my family, friends, and clients.

Take care of you,
Be your own cheerleader,
Pat Yourself on the Back,
Be Thankful for the unique person that you are,
I am so grateful for all the wonderful people in my life,
From their heart,
From their soul,
All their energy shines,
Thank you for re-energizing me by being you:)

Precision

My wedding dress was very simple and classic in the front, and the back
was magic, the wow factor was what people were left with
This word ran through my head as I was teaching my Pilates class this evening.  All workouts and sports are amazing and specific to whatever the goal is, however I feel that Pilates goes deep and precise, exactly to the focused point that is being worked on, and that is what you feel the next day, in a good way.

An amazing coach in my Herbalife family has just reached a huge milestone, it is beyond a six figure income, and the most amazing part, is that he did it his way, I completely identify with him and admire him.  He has attracted inspiring leaders that jumped right in to the opportunity, got amazing results, and went on to inspire literally thousands of people.

I love that he is an athlete, and he is one of the founders of our Fit Club model, that now even corporate is using as an example of how to do the business when they train all over the country and all over the world.  He is also a navy seal and has designed our workout format, it is fun, challenging, yet doable for every kind of person, for any goal.

I am the type of person that tries to always tries to be real, genuine, present, its not always easy, especially with clients and even with kids.  I want to inspire and lead, and that sometimes means to let go.  To teach and let the student, client, or child fly and discover their own understanding and expression of what they learned.

All we can do is be passionate and speak from the heart,
How other people take it is how they take it,
It is as simple as that,
Find what you love,
Find what makes you happy,
Find who you love,
Find who makes you happy,
Keep searching until you do,
It's worth the ride.

I keep on trying to squeeze too much in,
and I am aware that we all have to create a schedule that fits our life.  So as we search we must also check into our gut, how does it feel, that is the gauge, trust it.

Trust You,
Coach Yulia

Capture the Moment

After a few days of not feeling so good, yesterday late afternoon the kids and I were hanging out on the grass, I had to get the camera, and with one hand, got an amazing shot, after a lot of others, of course :)  Afterwards, had the most amazing Doula Training, learned something new about nutrition and the pregnant mother, it really is important what you eat not only for you, but for the baby, for the body to cary the baby to term, there are so amazing details, excited to share as I learn.  Healthy weight gain and Healthy swelling are ok, and it is all based on what you are putting in your body, Nutrition is KEY, and many doctors are not asking women what they are eating, they are just putting them on a scale, it is so individual, depends on what weight the woman was before pregnancy, among other factors.  Please message me for info if you have any questions.

OK, not my best angle, but I love Eli Tzvi's eyes, and Ziona Sofia's leaning her head on her hand, the baby is not too comfortable, but not bad for a one handed pic!

I have an open day, yet a day of needing to get a lot of stuff done.  Enjoying my iPhone, writing my to do's in my notes section.  Things always pop into my head, and since I am always on the go, I may remember it too late.  Kids are in school, my husband took the baby for the morning.  I have a gig at 1pm, so before then I also want to fold all the laundry and do the dishes, Thank God my husband does so much at home, when I am here and have some time, I must contribute.  I am so undomestic, its from childhood, my mom was more of a cook than a cleaner, and my father would make us clean, I loathed it, I swore I would have cleaning help one day.

The universe listened to my plea and I have an OCD cleanaholic, Thank God for this addiction, better than any other, yes extreme at times, but I will take it.  I had a great workout this morning in the park, yes our gorgeous LA weather is so wonderful, there is really no excuse not to take advantage of it.  I am just happy I found a workout I enjoy, that is a big deal for me.  I do not want to be in the gym all day, I like to do a workout and then get back to my non stop life.  It actually feels like a break from it all, I really enjoy it.  Workouts should not be a chore, when you have your nutrition on point, the workout is a bonus.  Remember 80% Nutrition and 20% Exercise.  Are you working out every day 2-3 hours without results?  Ask yourself, how are you fueling your body.  I would love to share ideas and tips.

Count your blessings my friends,
It may look greener on the other side,
But Everyone Has Their Stuff,
Without Stuff We Would Be Bored,
Loving Life,
Coach Yulia

Perseverance

Herbalife+Yoga= Perseverance+Stamina

After last nights shenanigans, and I don't mean fun, I mean throwing up and cleaning up all around, and felt queasy myself.  Today you wouldn't have known it, all the kids are great, we were hanging outside, Eli Tzvi was riding his bicycle.

Today I was really careful of what I gave them to eat.  We all started with oatmeal for our stomachs to settle, then I had my almond milk with my Herbalife Chocolate Shake.  I was so happy that my body was getting the nutrition I needed, while it was light on my stomach, and it went down perfect.  I had two Yoga classes in a row this morning, and I didn't feel hungry until I was on my way home, my husband was preparing lunch, and I had a delicious citrus lemon protein bar to curb my hunger.  I came home to some fish and veggies, also light and perfect.

My kids were recovering from yesterday's stomach flu, so they weren't eating much, I was so happy to have the Herbalife Children's Chocolate Shake, to fill their bellies, in a light healthy way.

Thank You Herbalife, My Kids Love You

Relaxed with the kids, and finished off the night with my Doula Training and my final evening Yoga class.  I feel great, all the Yoga energy and my nutrition program had me going, and going, and going all day.  I feel excited writing this blog and feeling back to myself again.

Excited for my workout tomorrow, and love all the happy energy around the Thanksgiving Holiday, everyone is feeling grateful and thankful to spend time with family and friends.

I feel so blessed for my husband and my family, supporting me on my mission of health and happiness, and spreading it to my community and the world.

The Pleasure of Puke

When I was 8 months pregnant with Ziona Sofia, I flew to Atlanta, GA with Eli Tzvi in my lap to visit my parents and brother.  At that exact time, Atlanta was experiencing a severe stomach virus outbreak, and both my son and I got it bad.

This past Thursday my daughter kept waking up, i finally decided to lie down with her, and noticed she was coughing and I asked her if she needed to throw up, she said no, I fell asleep and woke up with throw up next to me.  When I analyzed it in the morning, it didn't seem so back, she had carrots and hummus the night before, and it was bits of carrot, maybe one got stuck in her throat, she seemed fine, I didn't think anything of it.

Friday night we sat down for our family meal, right after having the traditional grape juice, she vomited a river.  Then I knew something was wrong, put her to bed, and in the morning gave her oatmeal, and we spent the day at home, while my husband and older son went to synagogue.  Baby overall seemed OK, but when my husband and some got home, as he was just sitting on my lap, he projectile vomited, and the smell of vomit and spit up is totally different.

Then my husband took the baby to nap, I am having fun playing with my son and daughter, and Eli Tzvi tells me he doesn't feel good, throws up on the way to the bathroom, and keeps on until bedtime, poor guy.

Apparently the stomach virus is super contagious, I haven't thrown up yet, but I feel woozy, I don't know if its from that or cleaning vomit and poop all day.  Oh the pleasure of kids :)  My daughter is feeling better, and I read that in a couple of days it just passes, nothing to do but keep hydrated and rest.

Sucks to feel nauseous and off, hopefully everyone will sleep good tonight, and especially me, hope vomit doesn't keep me up all night.

Appreciating life and health,
Coach Yulia
Thought I would put a sweet pic of me, just over a year,

Go, Go, Go, STOP

I have a feeling I have used this title before, but it really suits today in a very good way.  I have been working since this morning at 9am, and just came back from my oldest son and I getting our hair done.

Shabbat today starts at 4:32pm, OMG, so I am literally squeezing it in.  Grateful to my husband for being the amazing cook that he is, he took my daughter from school, and she is still napping, she was a little under the weather last night.

My baby was hanging out while we were getting our hair done, ate a whole banana, and drank a whole bottle, my big boy is growing, Thank God.

Life is amazing when it clicks, and today has had its non stop, but now that I am home, I am so happy, thankful, and feel so good that I have designed my life, and I am not done yet, but for now I am done.

Shabbat Shalom
Yulia

Holi "DAY"

OK Folks, its Get Real Time :)  I totally get the holiday concept, I have been married 5 years, and in my Jewish community, we literally have a month of holidays, and the tradition is to partake of food and drink, and celebrate full on.

In our modern society people choose to sign off from health and awareness even a week before Thanksgiving until after the new year, where resolutions are haplessly made, and after a week of "really trying'" all is given up until the following year.

Why does this happen?

1. no goal
2. no plan
3. no support
4. no accountability

I love the concept of Healthy Active Lifestyle, and really enjoying life, including really enjoying your food.  Food is a celebration, did you know that on an energy level, if you are angry or not present when you are eating, your body does not digest it as well?

So the bottom line is, find a way that works for you, that fits your lifestyle, find workouts or activities that you enjoy, and when you are doing something all the time, it's OK to indulge once in a while.

Today's blog is about getting real about the holiday season, Thanksgiving is one day and Christmas is a dinner and a lunch, I know everyone has various traditions, but come on people, it is not a week before Thanksgiving to after New Years Day.  That's the best part, when your body is working right, the metabolism is burning body fat all the time.  In my community we celebrate Chanukah, where it is traditional to each everything made in oil, woo hoo, from potato pancakes, with sour cream and apple sauce, to doughnuts with all kinds of yummy fillings.  I am all in for celebrations, so be all in, and the rest of the time be all in a healthy active lifestyle.  Excess once in a while is Moderation :)

I love being a coach, we make a goal together, we make a plan together, I support you every step of the way, and hold you accountable to stay on track, while we track you from start to finish.

The Cop Showed Up

Lucky me, I went to court today for a sign that said no turning right, this is where my nutrition club is, and unfortunately a gold mine for cops.  I go there all the time, and that morning was super distracted on the phone and with my baby, and unconsciously made that right.  I was in shock, there is also no left, and I had made that mistake before, got lucky, the cop gave me a warning and a fix it ticket for my insurance, for some reason I only had an old one in the car at that time.

So the cop from this case was very kind in telling me that I could do traffic school, and I reminded him that I would still have to pay for the ticket, and my husband would not be pleased to say it mildly, $238 to be exact.  I have also been lucky before I got married to go to court and have the cop not show up, but today in this Sheriff's court, I think there were like 30 cops, and it was quite interesting.

A few didn't show up, and 2 cops dismissed it themselves, lucky them!  I was wanting to ask for traffic school and maybe get a reduced fine or do community service.  Before I went up my "nice" cop showed me the above diagram and also had a picture of the sign at the crossing.  He was a go getter, super prepared, and I was actually impressed.  He had another guy that was in court too, I think this is really this cops life and passion - once again, lucky me.

So it made me think that if I was so prepared in my life and my business, things would get done, be much more efficient, no running, running late, forgetting things, or blaming it on the kids or something else.  My amazing accountability partner is this kind of person, like the cop, she is so prepared and organized, even when life happens, her business runs smoothly - much respect.

I am getting better, thanks to my husband and finally finishing our Sprint contract, we just got iPhones, and a no contract carrier for only $49 a month, for everything - woo hoo - he can hook you up with that too, spread the word if you know anyone interested.  I had a Blackberry, I was a bit scared, but am finding the phone very user friendly, and that it is actually a mini computer is phenomenal.  My calendar is attached, so I can u pdate it instantaneously.  I am feeling good about really knowing my time and my schedule, lucky for me, that is the term of the day, sometimes positive, sometimes not so much, but in this case all good, I get to squeeze in a mani-pedi.

In order to grow we must learn, unlearn, and relearn,
If you get this, the sky is the limit,
Let's Talk,

Perspective vs Perception

In my baby's opinion it is so delicious to have some toes with your breakfast!

Both of these words are a way of saying "this is my take on it/ this is the way I see it/ this is my point of view/ this is my opinion."

"Perception" is the process by which sensory information is received and interpreted by the brain. It's often used legally to point up that two witnesses see the same events differently.

To put something in perspective is to look at it in relation to its surroundings or other relevant information.  It also describes the nature of depth perception.

I just had a civil conversation with someone about religion, and in our recent election where politics was in every nook and cranny; I feel it is so important to realize that we all have our own opinion that is true for our life and our world.

This goes for relationships, for pregnancy, birth, and how to raise children.  Who we are attracted to, the traits we feel are important and essential.

I firmly believe that we can always keep learning from everyone that crosses our path, even learning what not do to, or how we do not want to live our life, sometimes it is exactly what we need to make us feel that what we are doing, how we are living is the exact place we want to be.

"The bottom line is gratitude and appreciation for the blessings in our life, the more we are present to them, the more we will be aware when the right things cross our path.

Life is so beautiful when you are really connected to who you are and to what your really want and do not want in your life.

I love to talk about this kind of stuff,
Lets start a Conversation,
Coach  Yulia

That's me on the right, this is such an awesome workout, Monday and Wednesday at 9am Pico/Motor - Join Me

Body Fat, how much do we need to survive?  This is a funny yet important question, when we do not fuel our body right, it holds on to the fat for protection because it feels we are starving ourselves, and not sure when the next meal will come.

So some of the men I work with are in the single digits, below 10% bodyfat, that is where you can see all 8 abs :)  For certain sports athletes need to stay super lean, but overall women should be below 25%, around 20% is curvy and tight, anything below that gets into athletic endeavours.  I personal love my hips and tush, and as long as it stays firm, I don't want it going anywhere.

So these exercises I am doing in my Sprint2Fit workout above are specifically for the glutes, and it really important to know what your specific goal is.  Remember the most important part my friends, people that work out all the time but don't eat are not getting level 10 results inside and outside.  The goal is to feel your best and look your best.  Protein is an important factor in getting lean and gaining body mass.

I love the science of it all, and that is what I help you figure out as a coach.  I am currently talking to a male client that really wants to gain some muscle mass, yet keep lean and cut.  The key is not to gain more fat, just muscle, and your metabolism speeds up and burns the fat for you.  My female client lost 1.5 pounds in her first week, it is healthy to lose up to 2 pounds per week.  I help you track it, so we can tweak it as we go along to fit your lifestyle and your goal.

I love what I do, and I am looking for more coaches who are ready for an amazing team support and growth potential.  You can really have it all when you find what fits you.

Tonight I have my Next Level business seminar, and right after my first Doula Training course, so excited.  Love to keep growing and keep learning, and being of service, changing peoples lives, inspiring people to take the next step no matter what the obstacles are.  Accountability and support really help us get over the hurdles, as a coach I am by your side every step of the way.

If you know anyone that fits the description above, please message me for details.

FIT

This word means so many things and has been running through my head all day, it has been a busy day, and I am committed to this blog, so here it goes my friends, sorry so late.  I have had three amazing Yoga classes, with a few first timers that really enjoyed it, and the regulars that were so happy that we are back on a weekly basis.  It is amazing how timing is everything, I had a bit of time during the gorgeous warm part of the day, put the kids on their bicycles and went to visit their Saba, my husbands father.  I always want them outside, doing stuff, being active, experiencing life, but rest is important too.  It all just has to fit :)

So the only part of this word that we do not want any part of is:

To have a Fit - A sudden uncontrollable outbreak of intense emotion, laughter, coughing, or other action or activity: "in a fit of temper" :) Other than that, they are all pretty OK

To Be Fit - healthy, lean, in shape
Fit in- want to be part of something, maybe a group of friends
Perfect Fit - could describe clothes or a couple

Speaking of Perfect Fit, we are looking out for someone for my fabulous brother in law below, my daughter gets her gorgeous genes from his side of the family line.  He was hanging out with us for the day and we had a blast.  I know there is someone out there that will get him, and appreciate the amazing man that he is.

Have a Fabulous week,
Shavua Tov,
Coach Yulia

Time Change

For a lot of people the time change gives them the feel of that extra hour, for the Jewish observant world, everything changes before and after our "Day of Rest."  During the summer our meals do not start until 8 or 9 on Friday nights, and on Saturday we are not finished until super late, sometimes after 9pm.  Especially in LA, it seems the time change makes a dramatic difference, maybe we get a lot of light or something.  Now we begin our Friday night before 6pm, which is nice for us with our young kids, we can get started early, put them to bed early, and have a quiet night to ourselves.

For a lot of people the early start is a bit hectic, getting the house and food ready, not much time to run around, especially on a Friday.  I like how on Saturdays it ends early, and tonight I have a lot going on.

Every month we celebrate the new moon, and one of my friends always has an event at her home, with great stories and food, then an amazing teacher is coming down from San Francisco to teach Zumba to our community, I am excited to meet and network.

Los Angeles Area Jewish Ladies, if you can get away, I will be here, excited to work out and get inspired, call me if you want more info 323.377.0707 - We can always learn from each other - that's what life is about :)

My brother in law is popping into town for a night, my kids will be excited to hang with him tomorrow, and tomorrow I have a day full of Yoga, literally morning 10:30am noon 3pm and night 9pm.  I love teaching, it is a beautiful recharge, and everyone that is taking it presently is really benefiting and enjoying it, I love the energy exchange.

Pros vs. Cons

This is what life is about my friends :) nothing is perfect, and honestly I think perfect would be absolutely boring, you have nowhere else to go from perfect.  There are people in my life that were super focused on their career, and once they achieved their goal, they realized they needed the balance of a personal life.  Other people put all of their focus on the wedding, and don't realize is that the married life after the wedding is what needs our 100% focus, attention, and energy.

Those that get married young are still finding themselves and have to learn to grow together so they don't grow apart.  I got married later in life and the challenge of that is that we already come to the relationship as a complete and strong personality, and hopefully with compromise and respect, all life's happenings can be handled as a "we."

Then throw children into the mix and you got a party :) Sometimes parties are the best experience ever, and sometimes they get too intense - so that's were family, community, and staying strong in who you are come in.

Life happens my friends, crazy stuff happens, god forbid death, divorce, sickness - relationships are what keep us balanced - turn to support groups, family, friends, so important to communicate, let it out, deal with it, find what makes you happy.

Today has been such an amazing day, where everything I have done just felt good, I felt a total energy exchange.  When things are not so good, I always look at pros vs. cons.  The cons will always be there, but if there are more pros, then its worth the fight, or the energy :)

Happy Weekend,
Shabbat Shalom,
Yulia

FUEL

Believe it or not, I am not talking about gas in the car, although one of my good friends in New Jersey, who survived Sandy, was saying she was happy to pay $4 for a tank of gas because of rationing.  It is amazing that money does not matter when something is urgent, and it is a little sad that with our body and mind sometimes we wait too long, ignore, don't have time, until a doctor tells us we better pay attention or else.

Surgery and medication with side effects for the rest of your life, no thank you, for some people their cup of coffee is for the rest of their life and they enjoy it and think nothing of it.  I always get that question about a nutrition program, for the rest of my life?  Hell Yeah, I want to eat healthy, be healthy, have energy, and feel and look my best for the rest of my life.

Today it was rainy in LA, so my Hot Mama Power Walk got cancelled, I grabbed my baby and ran to the gym to catch a Bodypump class, got there too early and jumped into the Zumba class.  I literally had tears in my eyes because I felt so strong.  This morning as usual I had my breakfast shake, it was Soy/Dairy/Gluten Free, it is the Allergen Free Vanilla, I put a banana and peanut butter, and felt totally satisfied.    On my drive to the gym I made myself and Herbal Green Tea, which burns 80 calories per cup, and gives a nice natural energy.  After my double workout, I had my Herbalife 24 Rebuild Strength for post workout, whey protein, amino acids, L-glutamine, everything your lean muscle needs to recover and burn body fat.

I got home, had a greek Yogurt, I went light because today I treated myself to the Korean Spa for a body scrub.  It is the most amazing experience, my skin feels like it can breathe.  Now that I am home, I am grabbing some veggies and hummus and thinking of making chicken soup for the family, since its chilly for us in LA.  I can also blend some for the baby, its so exciting he is eating and liking everything.

If you don't put fuel in your car it will not go anywhere, our body is the same.  We treat our cars and pets better than we do ourselves.  I love the quote excess once in a while is moderation, when you are fueling your body right, indulgence is fabulous.  We are on this planet to enjoy life, enjoy our food, even bodily functions should be pleasant, and I am talking about the ins and outs, if eating gives you heartburn and constipation, that is not living.  I have my Mango flavored Aloe Vera everyday to support my digestive system, and absorb the nutrients that we need for the body to run like a well oiled machine.

Luckily people nowadays are investing in themselves, looking for preventive maintenance.  Gyms, supplements, and overall care are viewed more as a necessity than a luxury.  So if you are spending money on these things anyway, why not find the best in the market.  Thank God when I went looking the best was the first thing I found, I have not tried anything else, and don't have a desire to.  UCLA Doctors, Professional and Olympic Athletes, and everyone that I work with looking and feeling good, that's good enough for me :)

Jump on board,
You want some of this?
I can show you how,
Wouldn't it be nice if we overturned the obesity epidemic?
Wouldn't it be nice if we had eye candy everywhere - lol
Feels so good to know I am going to get me back,
Coach Yulia

This is the coolest thing ever, in the famous wax museum in Hollywood, Herbalife is proudly displayed on one of our sponsored athletes and teams, David Beckam and the Galaxy - makes me proud, if its good enough for athletes...

Mommy Time vs. Food

Last night was a good night, all the kids slept well, and love to wake up literally at the crack of dawn.  My daughter very quietly came to my room, really tried not to wake me, laid down quietly next to me, and didn't play with my hair, which I have told her hurts me and I do not like it.  She doesn't play, she twirls and pulls, and pretends its a hose - what? obsessed, I tell her she has her own hair, I even got her a doll with long dark hair - no substitute.

Anyway, my daughter loves to eat, so my husband was already up, and I told her to go ask him for something to eat, and she hesitated, I could see the question going through her mind.  I really want to be here with mommy, but I really want to eat.  Lucky for me, the eating won out, so I got a few more precious seconds to myself before I jumped into my day.

Have you ever really wanted something, thought about something, and then it came into your life?
This happened to me today, and it is so cool, my kids will have something exciting to do and put together for years to come.  Here is how it came about.

I have realized that parents of all walks of life need to stick together and support each other.  I have been reaching out to mom's and now mom's are introducing me to other mom's. We all love Facebook because it is an easy way to stay in touch with the world while we are with kids and our non stop lives.

So an amazing mom I haven't met yet, but we have a workout date next Monday, was giving away a train table with all the tracks, props, and trains.  Eli Tzv,  my 4 year old is in love with trains, and my daughter is just as crazy about them, she even has a favorite train.  I recently got them some kind of train set, it was OK, but I have always wanted the wooden one, where the trains connected magnetically.  It is a big investment, I didn't even imagine a table.  I am SOOOOO EXCITED!  My kids deserve everything, and the best part is moms love to give away what they are done with.  I gave away my baby swing and my awesome changing table.

I am excited to help build the track and city, I have a blueprint!!!!

We have so much power,
Tap into Yours,
Dream Big,
Set Goals,
Decide,
Go for it,
It can only get better if you are working at it,
Let me help you figure it all out,
I love meeting new friends,
I love working with adults,
I love my kids,
Life is magic,
You can make your life magic,
Choose,

Strong is the New Skinny

I love that nowadays our culture is more aware of health, fitness, and wellness.  When you see someone that is skinny on the outside, they may have cholesterol on the inside.  The real measure is lean muscle to body fat, do you know your body fat percentage?  I would be happy to come over and measure yours, very easy to do with my Omron device, I am serious, become aware of where you really are, not what the scale says.  The BMI (body mass index) which you may get at your doctor's checkup, is just a height weight measure, and mostly gives them a glimpse into whether someone is healthy vs. obese, nothing specific.

Last week I did the most awesome Bodypump class, I was checking myself out in the mirror, and I see it slowly but surely happening.  My outstretched belly after 3 babies in 4 1/2 years is definitely getting tighter.  The best part was I felt so strong, it is so amazing with a weight workout, when you really focus on the form, and you can do it correctly, it just feels so good.  It is very important to get resistance in your workout, push ups and pull ups are amazing for that besides using weights.

Yesterday I did my friends Sprint2Fit workout at the park, I am so pleasantly sore from it today.  It feels so good to try different things, and even surprise myself that I like it.  For my personality what I really like is a little bit of everything, where you feel the workout but you don't feel pushed or like its too much.  I know some people get motivated by hardcore boot camp style, I would rather approach it like a martial art or dance, intense, precise, and fun.

In my Yoga class I always say that we get beat up everywhere else in our life, and when you are nice to yourself in yoga, the body relaxes, the stretch goes deeper, and its a much more effective workout.

I love all of your feedback for my blog, let me know if there is a topic you would like me to explore.

Workouts should be fun,
Work should be fun,
Life should be fun,
That has been my mantra for a long time, and luckily since I seek it I find it.

Why not let life be
Exciting,
Extravagant,
Enticing?

Really Listening

One of the most important lessons is life is to listen fully, openly, and without formulating responses in our heads.  Most of the time we are always in our heads, whether its figuring out what to say next, what to cook for dinner, or mentally checking our to do list.  In life, family, and business, listening will bring you closer in all of your relationships.

I am taking this on in all areas of my life.  It is so amazing when you start listening, you really get present to the most beautiful events, expressions, and life moments.  One of the most powerful things I learned as a parent so far, is that kids just want you around, they don't care what you are doing.  All the amusement parks and material things mean nothing if you are not there to enjoy it with them.

Also in business, it is essential to listen to the needs of the client, it is their needs that matter.  I am passionate about what I do and what I represent, and I always tell my clients to just try, whether its Yoga or the Herbalife Nutrition Program.  I was telling a new client today that health is what's important.  When you are giving the body what it needs, weight loss is just a side effect.

I feel that in every area in life all we can do is speak from the heart, and then stop and listen fully to our children, our clients, neighbors, and friends.  Even in this world of politics and international relations, I wonder if everyone would just listen to each other, instead of upstaging or putting down.

Listening to yourself is where it all begins, trust yourself, trust your gut, listen to everyone, yet decide what fits you.

Sunday Funday

While Saturday is a more relaxed, spend time with each other family day.  Sunday is lets go out and do something together family day.  Today my children's school had a picnic at a park, which is the perfect place for kids to just be free and have fun.  I had a good time seeing friends, eating good food, and the kids had a blast.  They invited a soccer crew that had the kids doing all sorts of fun things, I love active fun, and they definitely take after me in that area.

Then we got home, it was a super hot day, we are almost in the 90's here in LA, nuts!  Luckily our home stays cool, so I was hoping we would all take a nap, wishful thinking.  I was drained from my poor baby's teething wake ups, and also my daughter just wanting to be up at 5am and letting me know that she is up.

So I put them to watch a movie, and laid down with the baby, he took a morning nap, and a nap at the park, and obliged me one more nap, he is so good to me :)

So I am teaching a Yoga class tonight at 8:30pm, looking forward to a beautiful energy exchange with the women in my community.  Now I am getting my week set up, I have just joined most of the rest of the world with an iphone.  I was scared at first, I really loved my blackberry keyboard, and with a touch screen the hands have to be so clean, not so easy with babies and kids.  So far so good, I am enjoying it, and am happy for it to help grow my business and organize my schedule.

As I am figuring out how to balance work and family life, I am realizing that everyone has different circumstances, and its a very individual journey.  It is great to take advice from everyone, but really try different things, and see what fits best in your life.

I was working out Monday through Friday, and now I have a client on Friday, and that is the day my kids get out early from school and we spend the whole day getting things done, and getting ready for our Day of Rest.  So now I am committed to working out Monday through Thursday consistently, a wide variety, a mix of cardio, core, yoga, and weights.  I am more focused on following my Nutrition Program every day, because I see the results of my coworkers.  They all say before they got on their program they would workout all the time, every day 2-3 hours, too extreme.  Now that they know it is 80% Nutrition and 20% Exercise, the workout is the fun part, not the "oh I have to."  When its fun you don't want to miss it.

What is amazing as well is that the right posture burns more calories, I have been teaching for over 10 years, and the weights get you strong lean muscle and bones, and the core work and core activation in everything you do, keeps your abdominals working all day.  I love the concept of consciously holding yourself right all the time, instead of doing a million sit ups, which only target one part of the abs.

Education,
Knowledge,
Figuring out what fits your life,
Its a lifetime journey,
Its a lifestyle,

My goal is for my family and I to be healthy, moving, shaking, inspiring until 120 years old :)

The Best Gift Ever

If I place him on all fours he can hold it and rocks back and forth, now sometimes even gets into that position himself.
For my Jewish peeps, my older son saw him rocking and said "look he is davening!" (movement during prayer)

Today was the best relaxing day that I have had in a long time.  My wonderful husband took all 3 kids to the synagogue, and I meant to join them after my nap.  I woke up 3 hours later! At first I didn't believe it, I checked the clock in three places.  I must have really needed it, and its almost 10pm, and I still have tons of energy.  Before marriage and kids, naps were my recharge, some people drink coffee or soda, I would nap.  I have never had a traditional job, so lucky for me, I could always squeeze them in, especially since I used to be quite the night owl.

Thank God my husband got my older kids sleeping all night for quite a while now, the baby is actually doing quite well, but he is just about to pop some teeth out, so he is a bit fussy.  He is so wonderful, there is always a reason, he really doesn't complain when all is good, just smiles and plays.  He is just the perfect example of the best personality for any human being.  I was thinking today that I feel so blessed that he is in our family, the rest of us are super intense, non stop, and quite explosive.  We express ourselves in good times and bad, very emotional, no holding back.  Yes, me the calm Yoga teacher, for those of you that know me from other areas of my life, this all makes sense, as I always say, we all have a "monster" inside.  When certain buttons are pushed, the monster will come out and play, and usually not so nicely :)

So after my wonderful nap, the kids came home, and I strapped the baby on my carrier, put the kids on their bicycles, my 2 1/2 year old daughter just learned to ride, and rode about 4 blocks to visit their grandfather.  The day was beautiful, we got home, had some snacks, and got ready for bed time.  Tomorrow we have a school picnic in the park, I am excited for them to play, and to meet all the parents, and see the teachers in a social setting.

Today was a good day,
Sometimes good is enough,
The highs are beautiful,
The lows are a challenge,
Balance is where its at,

I love to Read

I just realized recently that reading to me is like Yoga, when I find a book I like whether its motivational, business, fiction, or non fiction, I want to literally turn off the world and dive in until the end.  I am listening to many videos and Cd's, many of my fellow coaches do personal development, basically something to get you in a positive head space and chase after your dreams.  So for many people it is the first thing they do when they wake up, some have Cd's in the car, others find time to read, and I feel that would be the most nourishing and fulfilling for me.

If I give myself a 30 minute time slot to read whatever book I am reading daily, I know I will get back to it, so it won't be hard to put it down, even if I am really into it.  I will take whatever inspiration from the pages that I read, and charge forward to reach my goals for the day, take action, and get to work.  I am really excited about this, I have not sat down and read a book in a very long time, I cannot even give a certain amount of years, and its because I am in life and have not head the luxury to turn off.  I also like to finish whatever book I am reading, I cannot read several at a time, so I am going to start it today right after this blog.

Videos are awesome, but I feel like my mind wanders, I definitely get benefit, but I cannot always squeeze it in, in the morning we get kids ready for school, at night my brain is tired, I want to finish up what has to get done and get to bed for another non stop day.  Cd's in the car are OK, but once again, while driving my mind is not fully present, and the mind wanders.  Ideally in a Yoga class, the only thing the mind is focused on is the moment, everything goes away for the hour that you are in the class.  That is how I want to approach my 30 minutes that I am in my book, fully in my book, it will be like a meditation and for me that is relaxation.

My husband just took the kids to school, my baby is taking his morning nap, and I get me time/quiet time.  I am headed to 24 Hour Fitness to take a Bodypump class for my workout today, and then meeting my friend who I will be doing Doula training with in a few weeks, bringing her an Herbalife Healthy Meal Shake for lunch, so we can share energy and ideas about our lives and our future.

Feeling blessed for my path,
Knowing I am exactly where I need to be,
Are you exactly where you would like to be?
